Tenerife is Spain's most-visited island for a reason. Year-round sunshine, black sand beaches, the Teide volcano looming over everything, and a vibe that feels equal parts European cool and tropical escape. The rooms are fine, and honestly that’s all you need them to be. You’re dropping your bag and leaving. Slightly dated, totally clean, and completely irrelevant to why you’re there.

What you’re actually paying for is everything outside that room. Breakfast on the terrace with the Atlantic in front of you, two pools to pick from (one of them heated, so you’re in the water before the sun’s even properly up), and the all-inclusive thing kicking in so hard that you genuinely stop doing the mental math on everything. That feeling alone is worth the trip.

Two minutes from the front door is Lago Martianez. Cesar Manrique designed it in the 70s. Seawater pools cut into volcanic rock right on the Atlantic, and it looks completely unreal in person. Like someone decided a lava field needed a pool bar and nobody told them to stop. You don’t have to seek it out. You just walk out and it’s there.

Puerto de la Cruz is walkable in a way that tourist towns usually aren’t. Old town, actual restaurants, a black volcanic beach. You won’t need a car once. TripAdvisor gives it a 95 walkability score and honestly, accurate.

This is the north side of the island. Older, quieter, more local than the south. If Tenerife always felt like a package holiday destination to you, this part will change your mind.

Puerto de la Cruz, where your hotel sits, is also home to Loro Parque, one of Europe's top-rated zoos and aquariums.
